Presentation:
DNA Double Strand Break Repair: assembly of a functional repair complex

Bio

Dr. Murray Junop is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, McMaster University, Ontario, Canada. He received his B.Sc. at Ryerson University, Toronto (1991) and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of Western Ontario (1997). His graduate studies concentrated on the molecular biology of Tn10 transposition, in particular mechanisms of transpososome assembly and DNA-integration target-site selection. Later he took up a postdoctoral appointment at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, and worked on the structural and functional characterization of proteins involved in DNA Mismatch Repair (MutS, MutL and MutH) and Non-homologous End Joining Repair Pathways. Since moving to his current appointment (2001), Dr. Junop has continued to focus on unraveling the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair (NHEJ and ICL) and is also interested in the development of antimicrobials aimed toward novel targets.
