Presentation:
Many ways to make ends meet: polymerase-mediated orchestration of DNA double-strand break repair

Bio

Aidan Doherty is Professor of Biochemistry at the MRC Genome and Damage and Stability Centre at the University of Sussex, located in Brighton, UK. His group’s major research interests focus on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that facilitate the repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) by the non homologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathway, in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Currently, the Doherty group are employing a range of biochemical, structural and cellular approaches to study how specific NHEJ processing enzymes, including polymerases and nucleases, co-ordinate the remodelling and repair of non homologous DSBs.
